About

Hi!  I'm Shaynna, or bluereverie.  I don't really refer to myself as bluereverie, but you can if you'd like!  I really enjoy being outside - camping in the forest, hiking on trails, or swimming at the beach or in a river.  It's how I find most of the organic material that I use in my work.  And I have really awesome friends that call me when they find something they think I can use.  I have always collected natural items, and my house is filled with crystals, bones, feathers, insects, and more!  I enjoy them as my decor until they find a new home in my work.  My goal is to take items like a deer skull, or a dried cicada, or rattlesnake vertebrae, and honor these treasures by giving them a new life.  I try to transform these forgotten pieces that typically evoke feelings of sadness or disgust, and instead feature the beauty of nature in a process filled with respect and creativity.

I source all my items lawfully and in accordance with United States regulations, including the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973. All animal parts are obtained legally by myself or one of my trusted sources. I believe that using animal parts for art after the animal is dead from natural death honors them and gives them new life. Killing animals to use their parts for art is just plain wrong. I truly love animals, and will never use anything that died for the sake of art, trophy, or profit.

I am horrible at remembering to take progress shots, but I do remember sometimes!
